This Northern hemesphere summer, NYC is installing a handful of giant 120ft waterfalls in the East River and under the Brooklyn Bridge. The art installation will be turned on fully tomorrow, but here are the first shots of the Brooklyn Bridge waterfall in action, taken during a pre-dawn test yesterday morning by photographer Vincent Laforet. It looks awesome. The waterfalls will be up for the next couple months, so be sure to walk across the Manhattan bridge and check them out if you’re in town.

Never in my life have I “camped out” for a tech-release. This just may be the one that breaks me.
If you’re a fan of botanical architecture, this might just be the coolest building ever. Architects Minsuk Cho and Kisu Park of Mass Studies designed this flora-clothed multi-level building to house Belgian fashion designer Ann Demeulemeester’s store in Seoul, South Korea. The building was completed in October 2007 and takes green roofs and living walls to another level, using foliage to cover both the external and internal wall surfaces. We love that it looks as if the building is growing up from underneath the greenery, blurring the lines between plants as ornamentation or structure.
Considering we didn’t actually get a Summer this year, a little part of me is preparing for a monster of a Winter. Bring it on I say. I’m a cold weather person and be damned all you that aren’t. For those of a more fragile disposition, may I suggest the J.I.T.C 2008 winter range, starting from the top (literally) with a hat.. and what a hat it is ! Made from Icelandic wool ( I know!) is all yours for U.S $135.
Zero to Grizzly Adams in no time..
This is without-doubt what I want for Christmas this year.
Utilikilt
Don’t call it a skirt. Fashioned after the traditional garb of celtic warriors, theUtilikilt ($140) is a mainstream kilt for the non-Scottish man. It’s made of a durable poly-cotton blend and features two deep cargo pockets for all your gear. Riveted snaps keep your curious bits packed neatly away.
Keep your coins
Remember the old saying “he who dies with the most toys wins” ? The Duncan Metal Zero Yo-Yo (US$40) will have you Walking the Dog and Rocking the Baby like a pro. Made of brushed aluminum, this 2.25-inch yo-yo comes with two sets of spacers, a long and short axle, and three hardcore counterweights.

You might think of cardigans as apparel for old fogies, but keep in mind: with age comes wisdom young Jedi. Hence this week’s J.I.T.C recommendation of the Vince Handknit Argyle Cardigan ($395). Its blend of alpaca and wool is sure to keep you warm on those cool winter days, while side slash pockets lend a bit of functionality. As long as you team it up with a pair of Converse all-stars, there will be no confusion. Sometimes, older is better. j.
