You’re old and out of touch

news09112006023.jpg
NY TIMES
A shy 8-year-old Long Island boy wonder is making money hand over fist by teaching grownups how to master a popular video game.

The brown-eyed second grader, Victor De Leon III, has been tutoring gaming greenhorns in Halo 2, an Xbox game in which the player fights to save Earth from destruction, for $25 an hour. That’s a ton of money, considering most of his peers have no income beyond their tooth-fairy stash.

“It’s fun,” said the digital-pastime prodigy, who’s been tutoring people online from the gaming room of his Mastic home for more than a year.

BMW Hydrogen 7 – production-ready, hydrogen-gasoline V12 Saloon

September 12, 2006 BMW has become the first auto maker to present a hydrogen-drive car which has successfully completed the process of series development: The BMW Hydrogen 7 with its hydrogen combustion engine is the result of a consistent development strategy now rendering this trendsetting concept of sustained mobility fully suitable for regular use in today’s world. The Hydrogen 7 Saloon is powered by a 191 kW twelve-cylinder engine and accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 9.5 seconds with a top speed limited electronically to 230 km/h. Ingeniously, the dual-mode power unit switches quickly and conveniently to conventional premium gasoline providing an overall range of more than 700 kilometres. The integration of hydrogen drive in an existing vehicle concept which has already proven its merits in the market paves the way for an alternative to conventional drive concepts fully accepted in the market and with all the assets the customer is looking for in practice.

quote-of-the-day.jpg

Xylophone is spelled with an X. Thats wrong. Xylophone ZZZ X, I don’t fucking see it. Next time you spell Xylophone, use a Z and if someone says “Hey thats wrong!” say “……no it ain’t.” If you think that that’s wrong then you need to get your head Z-Rayed. It’s like X didn’t have enough to do so they had to promise it more. “Okay, you won’t start a lot of words, but you will have a co-starring role in Tic-Tac-Toe. And you will be equated with hugs and kisses. And you will mark the spot. And you will make writing ‘Christmas’ easier. And you will incidentally start ‘xylophone.’ Are you happy ya fucking X?”

New iPod shuffle

new-ipod-shuffle.jpg
Completely redesigned, the New iPod shuffle (US$80) features an all-new aluminum enclosure that is so small, it takes the title of “smallest MP3 player in the world.” The New shuffle includes a new, diminutive dock and a built-in clip to attach the player to jeans, a shirt, or a bag. Also included is 1GB of storage space, twice that of the previous entry-level shuffle, and the ubiquitous white headphones. While not for everyone, if you’re looking to upgrade an older 512MB shuffle or just looking for a second iPod to
use at the gym, you won’t be disappointed.

Quote Of The Day: Cacti

quote-of-the-day.jpg
jthm2small.gif
“I saw an ad on TV for this thing you attach to a garden hose, it said “You can water your hard to reach plants with this product.” Who the fuck would make their plants hard to reach? That just seems mean. I know you need water, but I’m gonna make you hard to reach. I will throw water at you. Hopefully they will invent a product before you shrivel and die. Think like a cactus!”

Music: Foo Fighters: We gots tickets, we gots tickets!

Thanks to my good friend Mr A, and his lovely other half, great tickets have been secured for the Foo Fighters Unplugged at the Sydney Opera House in Oct. Somehow the bastard also managed to weasel himself into the one and only TOOL date in Melbourne too!
Either he knows someone inside Tickatek, or he is doing sexual favors backstage. Either way, he’s a lucky little chicken nugget.
If you have any spare TOOL tickets for the Sydney gig. I’ll buy them. I’m prepared to blog any untruths about you here on joshinthcity if thats what it takes.. Matter of fact, there’s not much I wouldn’t do.

Music. INXS

jitc-music-37.jpg
inxs.jpg
Well. Mrs Joshinthecity and I saw INXS the other night. And as much as I wish I could rip him a new one, the new singer JD Fortune was just fantastic. So good in fact, that he had the place absolutely jumping. Ok, maybe not exactly jumping (as quite a few of the others there were wielding walking frames) But damned good. Probably too good to be touring with the rest of the guys.
The gig exceeded expectations, so if you get a chance, go see them live. They most certainly still have “it”.
