The Bugatti Veyron may no longer be the world’s fastest car. Today — following a number of teasers and leaks — Barabus officially unveiled the TKR: a new 1005 horsepower supercar the automaker says is capable of doing zero to 98kph in 1.67 seconds. What’s more, the car reportedly has a top speed of 270 mph — nearly 20 more than the Veyron. Power comes from a 6.0 liter V8 twin-turbocharged with dual intercoolers. The car has a full carbon fibre body and chassis. Further details remain sparse, but the automaker says it will sell the car for £360,000, which should translate to around US$500,000, using typical automotive market conversion rates.
It’s worth noting that Barabus sometimes refers to the car as being able to hit 60 mph in “under 2 seconds,” rather than the stated 1.67. Even so, there is still some doubt among enthusiasts if such a figure is even possible. Nonetheless, the car is on display at the 2006 British International Motor Show, and we expect to get more details in the near future. The TKR is said to have been in development for the last 10 years. The car is to be made in Italy and the power plant is built in the United Kingdom. Worldwide volume is projected to be 300-400 cars over the estimated three-year production run.
Barabus has not responded to Joshinthecity’s requests for more detailed specifications.

If you look carefully at their website in the engine tab, the engine displayed is a bank engine twin turbo setup without intercoolers. I recall you that bank is a american company that builds twin turbo setup for pushrod v8s . Didnt Barabus say it was going to be a English engine ?

Honestly I’m glad to hear about the Barabus TKR spanking the Bugatti Veyron 16.4. Maybe it will shut some people up about how great a car the Veyron really is. In my opinion it’s an overpriced piece of junk. OK…Luxury Supercar…right. I’ve always hated VW. Bugs and Audis are just so UGLY! It’s almost as bad as owning a boxy Volvo. It just shows their level of intelligence by how much it costed them to create the car.
The Barabus TKR has a really great design as far as the body goes…minus the rear. But then again most cars rears are ugly. The fact of the matter is its performance. And as of right now it tops the list. But for every beginning there is an end. I just can’t wait to see what future cars we have in store to compete against this. Please note my comments are solely based upon my own opinions and research.

those numbers are not confirmed yet, as far as I have been able to find. without the weight of a car like the Veyron, this car will not be able to stay on the ground at 250+mph…the Veyron even won’t do its top speed without putting it in a special mode which lowers the angle of the spoiler so as to be more aerodynamic, lowers the whole car to about 2 inches off the ground, and if the steering wheel is turned more than a certain amount after setting that mode, it immediately reverts because otherwise it would go off the road or roll. Plus, if this car does not have AWD, and i havent heard anything hinting that it does, it is physically impossible to transmit that kind of torque to the ground through only two wheels, especially if the car weighs so little. I say show me the actual test results, then you can boast that you are a Veyron beater, but I would still buy the Veyron, because it will last at least 5 times as long as the barabus, it looks a world better, and has had much more attention to detail in its design, in my opinion.
That is one of the worst looking cars I have ever seen, it looks like a kit car and at the back its really crappy looking, all the materials especially that mesh give a great cheap ass look. I wouldn’t buy this or the Veyron, although the Veyron is an excellent car its too expensive, this though from what I can see is a steaming pile.

The Veyron is only ADVERTISED as having 1001 horsepower, although VW has stated that the actual horsepower is between 1006-1026. So I am not convinced that this is the most “powerful” production car. Those 2 turbo’s must be mighty big to compete with the Veyron’s 4.
Personally it is hard to believe that a car made 100% out of carbon fiber, will stick to the ground at such high speeds. The acceleration sounds possible for a car so light, but I guess only time will tell.
I still think the Veyron is a much more beautiful piece of machinery, but I say the Ariel Atom is the best for the

why is it not possible? The fastest street legal drag car can go 0-60 in 1sec(check it out on youtube). In 1988! Olsmobile made a concept car called the aerotech that went faster than veyron, not to mention several other modded cars. So yeah its possible, lets wait and see.

If you look close enough you will notice that the Barabus is actually just the Saleen kitted up. This is not hte worlds fastest car. I was speaking to a motorsports spokesman a couple weeks back and he told me that Barabus have modified the speedometer so that if it is going 150mph the clock will say 20mph faster so it will say 170mph. Barabus are cheats.
